Exploring Graduate Education at UC Irvine

Just starting to think about graduate school? Meet with staff during a 15-minute one-on-one meeting to gain more insight on exploring programs and applying. Our team can answer general questions about graduate school; for program-specific questions, please contact your program of interest by searching UCI Graduate Degree Programs .

Please note that UC Irvine's Graduate Division oversees master's and PhD programs and not JD or MD. The schools of law, medicine, and business have their own application processes and requirements. We do not have background in these areas but can offer general advice on graduate school.

Our team provides general guidance on graduate school exploration and applications.

Types of questions we are unable to answer:

• What is the exact acceptance rate for [specific program]?
• What are the required courses for the [specific program]?
• Can you review my transcripts or resume/CV in detail during this meeting?
• Can you tell me if my background fits well with [specific program]?
• How do I apply for a student visa (F-1, J-1, etc.)?
• What research opportunities or labs are currently open in [specific program]?

• How to decide whether graduate school is the right next step for you
• Differences between master's and PhD programs
• What graduate programs generally look for in applicants
• When and how to reach out to potential faculty mentors
• General advice for exploring programs and comparing universities
• Where to find information about graduate programs and admissions requirements
